Trained as a printmaker, Amit Lodh chose to paint. This is because among the many options through which he could express himself, painting allows him to play with the medium in many ways. The focus of his work is colour and story with each informing the other. His artworks are connected to different phases of his life. There are so many unexplained stories behind each phase and painting is the best medium for him to express it all. it gives him the space to suggest and explore emotional nuances. The colour and visual language of his works are inspired by mass culture by which a bunch of ideas and values developing from common exposure. Relationship with dramatic human characters are highlighted in his work, As a result, the characters in his paintings are always engaged in activities with his canvassing portraying the moment critical to the activity.
