G.Hemalatha

Hemalatha Senathipathi, a Chennai-based sculptor and painter, inherits an artistic legacy as the daughter of the renowned artist M. Senathipathi from the esteemed Madras Art Movement. Immersed in art from an early age, she gleaned practical knowledge in metal relief under her father. She seamlessly transitioned into copper metal reliefs, sculptures, and paintings, embracing them as her full-time profession. During the vibrant artistic era of the early 1980s at Cholamandal, Hema absorbed the creative buzz swirling around artists in their studios. Observing her father engrossed in his compositions, she found her passion rooted in this medium and art in its entirety. It was a decade pulsating with vitality that profoundly shaped Hema's artistic journey. Hemalatha draws inspiration from traditional folk art, African designs, tribal art, animals, birds, and a range of mythological to abstract characters like Lord Ganesha, Krishna, Hanuman, and human themes. Peacocks fascinate her, and enamels find a special place in her work, lending a decorative quality. Her sculptures encompass frontal perspectives and dimensional depth. Detailed with meticulous planning and thoughtful placement, her works exhibit an interactive geometry that seamlessly merges organic and stylized elements. Hemalatha's skilled craftsmanship reflects more than THREE DECADES dedicated to crafting Metal Reliefs, Sculptures, and Paintings.
