Narayan is a Chennai-based, self-taught artist whose work took off during the pandemic after his kids brought home their art class techniques and taught their dad the basics. Since then, he, along with his children, established Garage Magic Studios as their base of operations, and expanded their exploration of acrylic and other media on canvas, selling many of their works and donating all profits to a charity in rural Andhra Pradesh that works for the education of the girl child. Inspired by V.S. Gaitonde, Gerhard Richter and Claude Monet, Narayan's abstract works seek to create spaces of meditative silence and reflective light, even as they delight the viewer with a wondrous interplay of bright colours.
